Treatment for Vascular Malformations
Our physicians are highly experienced and treat a wide variety of vascular disorders. All are fellowship trained in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and perform numerous vascular procedures on a daily basis. Some of the conditions and procedures are: Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (pulmonary AVM, see below), peripheral arterial-venous malformations (AVM), arterial-venous shunts, arterio-portal shunts. Procedures include embolization, covered stent placement, and ablation. Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein in the lungs. Patients are at increased risk for stroke, brain infections, and heart failure. This disease can be treated non-surgically on an outpatient basis by our Interventional Radiologists. Our physicians are highly trained in this type of procedure, and have trained under some of the world's experts. Link: http://www.sirweb.org/patients/ |
